Woof! Let's go!

The game server hosting market is full of resellers. Half the "providers" you'll find on Google are running on someone else's hardware with a sticker on top. Here's how to tell the difference + what actually matters.
Most game servers (Minecraft, all Source engine games, Rust, FiveM) are single-thread bottlenecked. A modern high-clock AMD CPU will outperform a "32-core" Xeon from 2018 for game server workloads, every time.
Ask: what CPU do you run? If they dodge or quote core counts instead of clock speed, that's your answer.
SATA SSDs are fine for OS drives. For game server world saves, chunk reads, asset streaming — you want NVMe. The difference is ~10x for typical workloads.
Ask: NVMe or SATA? "SSD" alone tells you nothing.
Cloudflare protects HTTP traffic. Game traffic is UDP/TCP — Cloudflare's free + Pro tiers do not cover it. You need hardware-level network DDoS scrubbing at the datacenter edge.
Ask: what's your DDoS protection rated for, and is it network-level (not just web)? "Cloudflare protected" is a red flag for game hosting.
The control panel is where you'll spend 95% of your time. If a host hides their panel behind a sales call or shows screenshots from Pterodactyl 0.7, walk away.
Ask: can I see the panel before I buy? A real host has a public demo or documented screenshots.
The classic shady move: list a $3/mo "starter" price that requires a 12-month upfront commit, no game ports, and a $5 setup fee — then charge $9/mo for what you actually need.
Ask: what's the real monthly cost for the spec I want? Get it in writing.
| What you should ask | Our answer |
|---|---|
| What CPU? | premium AMD hardware, every plan |
| Storage? | NVMe SSD, every plan |
| DDoS? | Hardware-level network scrubbing, not Cloudflare proxy |
| Panel? | Pelican (modern Pterodactyl fork) — you can see it at game.brucenode.com |
| Real cost? | Listed price = real price. Hourly available. Annual saves 2 months. No setup fees. |
We're not the cheapest host on the internet. There's always someone willing to oversell a $2 box on shared hardware to undercut us. We're priced where the math works for actual single-tenant performance + 99.9% SLA + 24/7 humans on Discord.
If that's your tradeoff, browse our plans →. Or jump in Discord and ask. We're not running a script.
