Set up your Hytale server
Hypixel Studios requires every Hytale server to link to a real Hytale account for moderation, crash reporting, and player authentication. You complete a one-time OAuth2 device-code flow on first boot. This guide walks you through every step. Takes about two minutes.
Before you start
- ✓A Hytale account. Grab one at hytale.com (Early Access is a one-time $19.99 purchase).
- ✓A purchased Hytale server on BruceNode. If you don't have one yet, head here first.
- ✓Your BruceNode dashboard login (any browser, any device).
Step 1: Open your server console
Sign in at brucenode.com/dashboard/servers and click your Hytale server. In the drawer that opens, look for the Hytale first-time setup section. It has an Open server console button that launches the Pelican web console in a new tab. Sign in with the credentials from the Credentials section above if prompted.
Step 2: Run the Hytale Downloader
In the server console, paste this command and hit enter:
The downloader starts and prints a short code (like ABCD-1234) and a URL (something like oauth.accounts.hytale.com/device). Leave the console open, you'll come back to it.
Step 3: Authenticate with your Hytale account
Open the URL from Step 2 in a new browser tab. Sign in with your Hytale account, enter the short code, and approve the access request. You're granting permission for this specific server to download Hytale binaries. BruceNode never sees your password.
Back in the server console, the downloader automatically detects the approval and starts pulling the Hytale server binaries, assets, and the Java AOT cache. Takes 2-3 minutes on our 10 Gbps network. You'll see something like Installation complete when it's done.
Step 4: Start your server
Back in your BruceNode dashboard, click Start on your Hytale server. The server boots authenticated and ready for players. You'll see it online in the dashboard within a minute. That's it, you're live.
Troubleshooting
- I don't see the Hytale setup section in my server drawer.
- The section only appears on Hytale servers. Make sure you're looking at the right server. Check the game label at the top of the drawer.
- The downloader says "Token expired" when I click the URL.
- The device code expires after 15 minutes. If you took too long, just re-run the downloader command from Step 2. It'll print a fresh code.
- My server keeps crashing after install.
- Hytale is still in Early Access, so occasional crashes happen. If it's consistent, open a support ticket from your dashboard and we'll dig in.
- Do I have to redo this every time the server restarts?
- No. The downloader saves your credentials inside the server volume. Your server stays authenticated as long as it runs. If your Hytale account goes inactive for more than 30 days you may need to re-authenticate.
